Ahmed Ammani, Enugu commissioner of police, has ordered the probe of an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old.

Daniel Ndukwe, police spokesperson in the state, announced the development in a statement on Saturday.

According to the statement, the officer, identified as Vincent Oke, is serving at the Awgu police division in the state.

He said the CP ordered the state criminal intelligence and investigation department to carry out a thorough probe into the allegation.

“He assured that the case would be given the deserved attention and that the ASP or any other person or persons found culpable, would be appropriately sanctioned.”

The development comes hours after operatives of the Ogun police command arrested one Michael Abiodun, identified as a pastor of The Light House Gospel Church, over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old member of his church.

According to the police, the cleric asked the victim to come to the church for “special prayer”.

The cleric was, however, said to have forced the girl into a room within the church premises where he allegedly raped her.
