Police: Reports of attacks on Kaduna communities by bandits not true

The Kaduna police command has denied reports of attacks and abduction in some communities in the state.

On Tuesday, Aminu Khalid, a former councillor in Kauru LGA of Kaduna, said bandits attaked three communities, including Ungwan Sako, Kunkurai and Dokan Kaji, where over 15 persons were killed and 38 others abducted.

Khalid had said the bandits operated for about six hours in the communitie, adding that the assailants initially abducted 58 persons.

He added that 20 of the victims were rescued  when the villagers engaged the bandits in a battle.

However, Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of the Kaduna police command, told TheCable that no incident of such occured in any of the said communities.

The spokesperson said several contacts were made in those communities, noting that there was no confirmation of the incident.

“It is not true, there was nothing like that because we have made contacts in the affected communities,” Hassan said.
