The police command in Enugu says its operatives have rescued the security guard who was abducted alongside a deputy director of nursing services at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in the state.
Daniel Ndukwe, police spokesperson in Enugu, said in a statement on Wednesday, that the security guard was rescued at Ishi-Ozalla in the Nkanu west LGA of the state at about 11.45 p.m. on Tuesday.
“The security man, alleged to have been abducted alongside a senior matron in UNTH facility by armed hoodlums, has been rescued by police operatives,” the statement reads.
“He was rescued at Ishi-Ozalla community close to the teaching hospital at about 11.45 p.m. on the same date of the incident, following intense operations immediately launched to rescue the victims and apprehend the assailants,” he said.

Ndukwe said Kanayo Uzuegbu, the commissioner of police in the state, had directed operatives to ensure the rescue of the deputy director.
He added that Kanayo appealed to the public, particularly residents of the Ituku-Ozalla community and surrounding areas, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals within their neighbourhoods or nearby forests to the authorities, by calling 08099854883 or emailing [email protected].
