Police rescue baby abandoned on Lagos street

The Lagos state police command says it has rescued a one-month-old girl that was abandoned around Odun-Ade filling station in Orile.

According to a statement by Muyiwa Adejobi, police spokesperson, the baby was sighted at the junction on Friday morning by some passers-by, who informed operatives attached to Orile division.

She was afterwards reportedly taken to the gender unit of the police command in Ikeja.

“The baby was taken to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, by the Officer in charge of the Gender Unit, where the CP directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to a government accredited shelter (facility) for custody and proper care,” Adejobi said.
