Gunmen have abducted five students of the Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River.
Daniel Ndukwe, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to TheCable.
Ndukwe, in a statement, said the students were attacked on Thursday while driving out of the college campus.
He said previous reports claiming that a “countless number of students” were abducted from the college during the attack are “false and misleading”.

The PPRO disclosed that two students have been rescued while the three other victims are still missing.
Ndukwe said the police have launched “vigorous operations” to rescue the victims and apprehend the abductors.
He said Kanayo Uzuegbu, Enugu commissioner of police, has ordered the operatives to ensure that the abducted students are found and rescued.

“Contrary to the spurious narrative in the viral video, in the evening hours of August 15, 2024, police operatives at the Oji-River Division of the command received information alleging an act of abduction around the college,” he said.
“They immediately hastened to the scene, rescuing two of the victims allegedly abducted, while three others are yet to be found.
“However, vigorous operations are ongoing to locate and rescue them, as well as apprehend the abductors.
“A preliminary investigation proves that the victims were driving out of the college when the seemingly targeted incident occurred.”
