Speaking with TheCable, Manzo Ezekiel, spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said a team has been deployed to the scene.
“I cannot confirm the deaths but our team is there. A number of houses have been submerged including the police station inside the estate,” he said.
“We have also interacted with the acting director-general of the FCT emergency management agency about the incident.

“That Trademore estate is flooded annually. We thank God that that this time around, the FCT administration built a bridge to enable people to still cross the water. But people must not be in a hurry to cross the bridge.”
This is not the first time the estate will be overrun by water.
In June 2023, many residents of Trademore were trapped in a flood caused by heavy rainfall.
In September 2021, three persons died in the estate after a downpour that led to flooding. Vehicles were submerged, while several properties were destroyed.

Residents of the estate had said the recurring flooding is caused by the dearth of drainage channels.
