The police in Lagos have taken custody of Ayomide Adeleye, the alleged killer of Christiana Idowu, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) who was recently abducted.
Ben Hundeyin, Lagos police PRO, said the army handed the suspect to the Lagos police command at about 14:00 on Thursday.
Hundeyin, who identified the suspect as a 23-year-old, said an investigation has commenced.
Idowu was reported abducted earlier in August between the Ikorodu and Yaba areas of Lagos state.

The undergraduate was in Lagos to undertake her mandatory industrial training when she went missing.
It was reported that her abductor had demanded a ransom of N3 million but her parents negotiated to pay N350,000.
Idowu, who was aged 21, was however killed in captivity despite her parents paying the sum.

An investigation into the case, supported by army operatives, had implicated Adeleye as the victim’s suspected abductor.
Adeleye was tracked down and apprehended with the aid of bank account details he provided for the ransom payment.
The suspect was arrested at the residence of his parents in Ikorodu.
A smartphone belonging to Idowu wa found on the suspect alongside transaction details relating to the kidnapping incident.

At the scene of the arrest, the victim confessed to killing Idowu and burying her in a shallow grave within the compound.
