Police threaten to deal with Shi’ites in Kaduna

The Kaduna state police command has warned members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) against any form of procession in the state.

Aliyu Usman, spokesman of the command, gave the warning in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday.

He also declared a group called Civilian JTF as an unlawful organisation, and said any activity including the disruption of peaceful and free movement of people by the two organisations would not be tolerated.

“The command, therefore, wishes to reiterate that person (s) found organising or conducting unlawful processions in any part of the state shall be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.

  1. This news is so disturbing and as well outrageous. Hope the government of El Rufai in Kaduna state simply realizes that the citizens have a right to peaceful gathering and procession. Declaring a religious body and their activities unlawful as a preemptive step and clamping down on its members for performing their religious rights is just tantamount to an abuse of his office in a constitutional democracy.
If I may ask which religious group should have merited to be outlawed in reality? Is it the Shiite and the IMN that the authorities of the day have brutally murdered in cold blood, hundreds of its unarmed members observing their religious rights which just seems not to appeal to El-Rufai and other Islamic sects in authority, or the violent infested Sunni Religious group to which El- Rufai belongs to, that has credibly given the Nigerian Enclave two renowned terrorist groups, namely the Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen terrorist?
