The police command in Osun has warned “unscrupulous elements” against celebrating cultism in the state on August 8.

Yemisi Opalola, the command’s spokesperson, issued the warning on Wednesday in a statement.

Opalola said the command received “credible intelligence indicating that some cultism groups are planning the 8/8 cultism celebration”.

“In view of this, the command, therefore, warns cultists and other unscrupulous elements in the state to jettison the plan or any of such action(s) forthwith as the command is earnestly monitoring their activities,” the statement reads.

“The command, along with other security agents and Civilian JTF, will not tolerate any unlawful gathering or assembly that threatens the state’s peace, as the plan to mark 8/8 may lead to bloodshed and property destruction.

“Parents and guardians are reminded to closely monitor and warn their children and wards against any act that may contravene the law.

“The command will not spare anyone who constitutes any threat to law and order.
