The Nigeria Police Force has warned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) against carrying out its planned protest in some south-eastern states.
Olabisi Kolawole, the force spokeswoman, said this in a statement issued on Friday.
“Information available to the Nigeria police indicates plans by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to embark on ill-advised protest using dangerous weapons across some south-eastern states,” the statement read.
Maintaining that the law prohibiting unlawful possession of firearms was still in-force, Kolawole said any attempt to unleash mayhem on “innocent and law abiding Nigerians would be met with stiff resistance”.

The statement assured residents of states in the south-east of adequate police protection, saying appropriate deployment had been put in place “to deal with the culprits”.
