Mohammed Aminu, the personnel who was allegedly assaulted by Seun Kuti, has been promoted to the rank of assistant superintendent of police (ASP).
The Police Service Commission (PSC) commended Aminu for his high level of professionalism and restraint in the face of provocation by Seun, the Afrobeat singer.
On May 15, Seun was arrested after a video wherein he was seen assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge went viral.
Twenty-four hours later, the singer was arraigned by the police before the magistrate’s court in Yaba.

He added that Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, has been promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner of police.
Solomon Arase, chairman of the commission, charged the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as a call to greater commitment to the service of their fatherland.
He noted that benefits and burdens go together and warned that police officers must respect the human rights of the citizens.
