Samuel Miracle, a police corporal attached to the government house in Kano, on Tuesday pointed his gun at some reporters, as he directed them to leave the premises.
He denied them access, saying they needed to provide accredited tags.
The reporters, who have unrestricted access to the government house, were surprised by Miracle’s demand.
Muhammad Ahmad, one of the affected reporters, appealed to Miracle, but the officer stood his ground.

Edwin Olofu, Ibrahim Garba, and Muhammad AbdulSalam – the reporters involved were all shocked.
It took the intervention of a security agent, believed to be a DSS operative, before the reporters were allowed to carry out their duties.
The DSS official, who acknowledged that the journalists were well known, directed officers of the Nigerians Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) manning the gate to open it.

Realising that his bid to stop the reporters had failed, Miracle said: “That is my nature, please, you cannot access government House without a tag”.
Muawiya Abubakar, chief security officer (CSO) of the governor and Muhammad Garba, information commissioner, could not be reached as of the time this report was filed.
