Two police officers who were abducted in Andoni local government area of Rivers state in November have regained freedom.
Nnamdi Omoni, spokesman of the Rivers police command, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
He said the officers: Godwin Anwuri, an assistant superintendent of police, and Gift Ojimini, a sergeant, were rescued in the early hours of Thursday.
Omoni said their abductors released them following intense pressure by the command’s tactical unit, complemented by support from the locals.

According to him, the policemen are currently receiving medical attention.
“Meanwhile, the manhunt for their abductors is still on, as we appeal to the public to assist us with credible information that can lead to their arrest,” Omomi said.
He said Mustapha Dandaura, the state commissioner of police, has reassured residents of the state that he is poised to deal with “all criminal elements” in the state and restore sanity ultimately.
The high rate of insecurity in Rivers has been a source of concern.
