Kayode Fayemi
Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti state, says politicians bicker on social media to entertain their followers.
Fayemi spoke at his 60th birthday thanksgiving service, which held on Sunday at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Isan Ekiti.
The former governor noted that despite political differences, Ekiti politicians are not enemies but remain committed to the progress of the state.
He also expressed sincere gratitude, attributing his accomplishments to divine favour. He thanked Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, for continuing with some of his policies.

“I am a product of grace, and I have so many reasons to be thankful to God at sixty,” Yinka Oyebode, special adviser to Ekiti governor on media, quoted Fayemi as saying.
“I also want to thank our Governor for making me proud. It could have been otherwise; things could have gone awry, but he is also a product of grace.”
Fayemi downplayed the feud among political figures on social media.

“That is why, in spite of the challenges one faces in politics, we enjoy a very cordial relationship — one built on mutual love and mutual respect. So, all these things you read on social media are for your entertainment,” he added.
“Many will wonder why Governor Segun Oni is here. When he was celebrating his birthday, I spent the entire day with him. Governor Fayose would have been here without hesitation if he were around.
“That is Ekiti — the vision we have always had is a state that will not be separated by political divide.
“We might belong to different political parties, but there is one party that we collectively belong to: the Ekiti party, Ekiti Progressive Party. Our governor is carrying on with that vision.”
