Ekweremadu to Buhari: Politics is over… make appointments from south-east

Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to give every region in the country equal treatment.

Speaking at a luncheon organised by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu state governor, to mark his one year in office, Ekweremadu said  the south-east was awaiting more appointments.

He said any attempt to favour a section of the country above the other pose a threat to the unity of the country.

The lawmaker added that Nigeria had achieved togetherness in 17 years of unbroken democratic governance and prayed that it would sustain the coexistence among the people.

“I believe that Nigeria will remain united on the condition that everybody is treated equally,” he said.

“Now, politics is gone, the administration should focus more on governance and ensure equity in distribution of appointments and infrastructure.

“We want to see more of governance in the south-east and the south-south. The people want to see more appointments in the south-east.”

He commended Buhari, the military and paramilitary organisations for achievements recorded so far in the fight against corruption and insurgency in the country.

He also praised Ugwuanyi for his achievements and urged him to sustain the tempo of development.

Sullivan Chime, the immediate past governor of Enugu state, congratulated his successor for his achievements within one year in office.

Chime, however, advised him not to bow to pressure from some quarters in the governance of the state.

  1. What an incompetent deputy senate prez who got to power by chance, when many Nigerians are looking forward to way out the economy mess that the nation found herself as result of mismanagement maladministration of previous government of which ekweremadu was part of through political appointment of incompetent regional bigots who squandered the national cakes by diverting money meant for development into their accounts. Now the incompetent deputy senate president is still talking about regional appointment for developmental purpose which is not what our nation need right now. What we need right now are competent individuals who are able with integrity to pilot the nation economy from this worse situation that the previous government left it to world acceptable standard that the masses can benefits from. We don’t want chop and I you chop economy system of the previous government who believed in regional appointment. Competence with integrity is what can bring change, which we the masses voted for not regional political appointment.

    1. Is competence and integrity an exclusive preserve of a particular region? What the Deputy Senate President is advocating is an inclusive government where every one in the country has a sense of belonging. Any nation where a segmens feels excluded can never achieve the much sought change.

    2. What we need right now are competent individuals who are able with integrity to pilot the nation economy from this worse situation that the previous government left it to world acceptable standard that the masses can benefits from.
I GUESS THE COMPETENT INDIVIDUALS CAN NOT BE FOUND IN THE SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH?

    3. LETS TAKE IT, WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE STOLEN NIGERIA BLIND SINCE PAST 45 YEARS. ITS THE SOUTH WEST AND THE NORTH.ALL THE INDUSTRIES THEY HEADED THEY COLLAPSED IT. THEY STEAL FROM GOVERNMENT WITH IMPUNITY. THAT AN INCOMPETENT GOVERNMENT OF BUHARI CANNOT PUT A WOOL OVER OUR EYES AND BE VINDICTIVE BECAUSE OF WHAT HE PERCEIVED WAS DONE TO HIM BY SOME PAST GOVERNMENT AND CHOOSE TO PROBE SECURITY VOTE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN THE NAME OF PROBING CAMPAIGN FUND.ITS LAUGHABLE. LET BUHAQRI PROBE THE APC CAMPAIGN FUND NOW, THEN THE TRUTH WILL BE ESTABLISHED. WHO IS MORE COMPETENT, PEOPLE OF SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH SOUTH OR SOUTH WEST AND THE NORTH? WHY DO YOU INSIST ON THE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LEAVE NIGERIA MUST STAY. LOOK AT HOW COMPETENT YOU PEOPLE HAVE MANAGED NIGERIA FOR THE PAST 50YRS AND ITS THE HEAVEN FOR CORRUPTION.A COUNTRY THAT WAS THE BIGGEST ECONOMY IN AFRICA, THE 3RD FASTEST GROWING ECONOMY IN THE WORLD. 5000MW ELECTRICITY ETC WENT TO BE THE 15TH POOREST ECONOMY IN THE WORD AND ALMOST IS CRASHED UNDER YOUR COMPETENT PEOPLE.NOW WE GENERATE ONLY 1500MW SHAME TO YOU. 2. Your comment..olami if dont know what to post you switch of your data regional representation is in our constitution is it only in the north that we have competent hands in Nigeria Mr President should think twice and do the needful for our great nation politics is over.

  3. Olami, you are the most person miserable here, who said that the south Easterners does not have Wat it takes to make a change in the Economy? You want to fix the Economy that is owned by everybody and you are sectionalising it, is that not madness on your local self? We have federal character system that is saddled with a responsibility to unite Nigerians both on and off duty, which has been in place till “baba go slow” came in. Why must he abrupt that procedure and why must he silence the constitution on dat regard? Anyway it’s the turn of the south East today, but remember it might be your turn tomorrow. Mind u, you cannot fix an economy that is owned largely by the igbos without them. You will Keep trying, until we are appointed no headway. Because no barber barbs anybody’s hair in proxy.

    1. Olami, sorry, you talks like a street tout that has know knwoledge of what governance is all about. Pls be properly informed by going through the act establishing the Federal Character principle and be guided. Stop being sentimental and self centered

  4. The first time I heard something sensible from this man, DSP. He has been savouring his age-long stay in the senate and has never bothered himself with the plight of his kinsmen.
Anyway, Buhari has shown he is a Fulani President and has a mission to accomplish Fulani domination in 4years by his appointments and inaction against attrocities committed by his kinsmen against other Nigerians. A change of heart is very doubtful for a man like Buhari. He gave the world a 97%/5% formula and has assidiously implemented the same in all his actions including population reduction.
It is a good tune from DSP since Ngige and Onu are incapable of speaking up in the face of injustice.

  5. Let’s hope that the President will swallow his pride and invite Prof. Soludo to shape up his economic policies. He will continue to blame PDP as long as he does not make this bold move and continue to listen to his tribal warriors.

  6. We the south easterners is urging the president to please as a matter of urgency declare the sit of this man and few other criminals in both upper and lower house vaccant cuz we that voted them have long lost confidence in them that is y agitation is every where in the south east. I am looking forward to reading where Ekweremadu is answering questions about our constituency allowances.
