“The State Executive Council of the association at its meeting on December 29, 2021, resolved that the Council should embark on a three-day warning strike starting 08:00 am on Monday 10th January 2022 to 08:00 pm on Wednesday 12th January 2022,” the association had said.
“This warning strike is to compel the Lagos State Government to act promptly on the following issues; acute shortage of nurses and midwives in health facilities; payment of retention allowance; proper consolidation of the CONHESS salary structure; regularisation of graduate nurses and stagnated nurses; improved welfare and working condition of nurses; improved hazard allowance; nurses representation in relevant boards and policymaking and life insurance scheme for nurses and other health workers.”
But after a meeting with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, on Sunday evening, the association had promised to announce a decision to call off the strike on Monday.
According to NAN, Olurotimi Awojide, Lagos NANNM chairman, at an emergency meeting of the association on Monday, said the suspension of the planned strike is to enable the government fulfill its promises.

The association also called for speedy implementation of its agreement reached with the Lagos state government,
Awojide expressed optimism that the association’s demands would be implemented immediately, and commended Sanwo-Olu for his prompt response.
He directed nurses in the state to resume duty at their respective duty posts at 8am on January 11.
