President Barack Obama says it is possible for Donald Trump to emerge victorious in the forthcoming US presidential election.
Obama said this on Wednesday during an interview with NBC.
“Anything is possible. It is the nature of democracy that until those votes are cast and the American people — you know, have their say– we don’t know,” he said.
“You know, as somebody who has now been in elected office at various levels for about 20 years, I’ve seen all kinds of crazy stuff happen.

“I think anybody who goes into campaigns not running scared can end up losing.”
Obama’s current position contradicts his view in February when he said he had a strong belief that the American people will not vote for Trump because they realise that being president is “a serious job”.
“I continue to believe that Mr Trump will not be president. And the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people,” he had said in response to a question at an economic summit in California.

“It’s not hosting a talk show or a reality show, it’s not promotion, it’s not marketing, it’s hard.
“It’s not a matter of pandering and doing whatever will get you in the news on a given day.”
