The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has successfully restored power to the Ugwuaji-Apir 330 kilovolt (kV) transmission line two.
On October 22, the TCN reported a power outage in the northeast, northwest, and parts of north-central after the 330 kV Ugwaji-Apir double circuit transmission lines one and two tripped “due to a fault”.
On October 24, the company said its linesmen identified the fault responsible for the power outage on both transmission lines.
The agency, on October 30, said it successfully restored power supply to seven northern states through the transmission line one.

Proving updates on repair efforts in a statement on Thursday, Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s spokesperson, said the company restored bulk power to transmission line two today, at about 11.50 am.
Consequently, she said Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola electricity distribution companies can now “pick” more load for increased power supply to consumers.
“TCN completed the repairs and stringing of damaged portions of the transmission line earlier today, enabling our engineers to energize the line,” she said.

“Presently, Apir and Jos transmission substations have picked loads.
“Expectedly, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola Distribution Companies will now pick more loads for onward distribution to customers within their franchise areas.
“Recall that the 330kV Ugwuaji – Apir transmission lines had been out of service since October 21st, 2024, due to the vandalism of the 330kV double circuit transmission lines 1&2. Line 1 was repaired and restored earlier on October 30, 2024.
“The restoration of bulk power through line 2 means that both lines are now in circuit. Therefore, there will be substantial improvement of power supply to the North East and North West.”

Mbah appreciated the patience and understanding of electricity customers in the northern region who were affected by the incident.
