All English Premier League (EPL) matches have been suspended till April 4, to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The Premier League disclosed this on Friday, after a protracted meeting.
It added that EFL fixtures and matches in the FA Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship have also been postponed, becoming the latest sporting body to take action to combat the threat of coronavirus.
“Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time,” Premier League statement said.

The news comes about the same time when UEFA postponed all next week’s Champions League and Europa League fixtures due to coronavirus.
It also comes a few hours after Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea striker, tested positive for the COVID-19.
Richard Masters, Premier League chief executive, also said: “Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

“In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.”
The Football Association also announced that England’s two friendly matches — due to be played at the end of March — against Denmark and Italy at Wembley, have been suspended.
It added that “refunds will be processed to all ticket buyers within 14 working days.
