Presidential candidate promises to pay N50k minimum wage if elected

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, presidential candidate of Peoples Trust (PT), says if elected president, he would pay a minimum wage of N50,000 and ensure free health care for Nigerians.

He said this on Monday at the inauguration of his campaign ahead of 2019 general election.

Olawepo-Hashim, who is also the chairman, OilWorld, said state governments were reluctant to pay the new N30, 000 minimum wage because they lack creativity in generating wealth.

He said: “They don’t know how to create wealth, when we are elected, we will pay N50, 000. It will be how to give Nigerians living wage.

“Nigeria is one of the countries that have the highest rate of returns on investment, but the problem has always been the bottlenecks which public servants put in the way of investors.

“These bottlenecks are man-made that can be removed within 90 days and Nigeria will be able to target five percent of infrastructure funds that will be flowing in this country.

“We have about 7.8 trillion dollars in infrastructure funds in the world looking for where to make money.”

He said if elected president, he would provide four million jobs every year by creating an enabling environment for the effective participation of foreign and indigenous investors and private sector to create jobs.

Olawepo-Hashim said this would be possible because Nigeria remains a very good destination for investment.

The presidential candidate said his party will guarantee the development of the country through various people-oriented policies and programmes.
