Pro-Biafra protests are evil, says Mbaka

Ejike Mbaka, spiritual director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, on Saturday condemned the protests by pro-Biafra agitators.

Warning that the demonstration could lead to chaos, urged the youths involved to return back to their normal lives.

“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket; whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,” he said during his weekly sermon at his ministry.

He lauded the anti-corruption campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his administration has enthroned due process and sanity in governance.

Mbaka said Buhari has good plans for the country and appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience with him.

He said Buhari was not responsible for most of the problems in the south-east, alleging that some of the politicians from the zone had not lived up to the expectation of the people.

“President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads, unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the south-east, we should blame our leaders,” he said.

“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the funds. Even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it.”

Mbaka said by appointing ministers from the zone and “assigning them with good portfolios”, Buhari has proven that he has nothing against the south-east.

“President Buhari’s action has proven that the south-east has not been marginalised. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,” he said.

The most popular cleric in the east attributed the recent free health screening initiative, which Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, launched in Enugu, to her love for the people of the region.

Mbaka called on Chris Ngige, the new minister of labour and employment, to use his office to employ youths in the zone, saying such development would stop what he called “another Boko Haram in the south east”.
