Facebook says content supporting the Taliban will remain banned on all of its platforms.
Afghanistan fell to the Taliban over the weekend, after the insurgent group seized several of its provinces and sealed its (Taliban’s) victory with the takeover of Kabul, the country’s capital.
The social media platform, in a statement on Tuesday, said the decision is in line with its ‘Dangerous Organisation’ policies, since the Taliban is designated a terrorist organisation under US law.
Pro-Taliban content has been banned on Facebook for several years.

Facebook said the policy applies to all of its platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp.
Facebook said it has a team of content moderators monitoring and removing posts, images, videos and other content related to the Taliban.
It said it will remove accounts that are maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban, as well as those that praise, support and represent them.

“The Taliban is sanctioned as a terrorist organisation under US law and we have banned them from our services under our Dangerous Organisation policies. This means we remove accounts maintained by or on behalf of the Taliban and prohibit praise, support, and representation of them,” Facebook said.
“Regardless of who holds power, we will take appropriate action against accounts and content that breaks our rules.”
