Don’t draw a line on probe, Nnamani tells Buhari

Ken Nnamani, former senate president, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to limit his fight against corruption to a particular administration.

Speaking at the public presentation of a book entitled: ‘Nigeria: The way through corruption to the well-being of a people’, Nnamani said “monumental corruption cases should be investigated”.

The book was authored by Abdullahi Shehu, an associate professor of criminology at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Abuja and Nnamani was one of the keynote speakers at its public presentation.

“To draw a line, when the investigation for monumental corruption – that may be inappropriate. There should be no exemptions please,” he said

“We don’t draw lines, anywhere we find anything monumental. We should expose it. It is necessary that those international cases, that fetched Nigeria a bad name – we shouldn’t just gloss over it.

“We should delve into it, no matter who is involved. Reports are ready. Such reports should be read and implemented. Issues bothering on Halliburton, issues bothering on Siemens.”

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, had said the current administration would limits its probe to the government of former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

“It would be a distraction for the president to begin digging into all former administrations but for a proper take-off of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, there is the need to look into the immediate past government,” he had said.
