Probe panel against Enugu deputy governor ready in 7 days

The Enugu state house of assembly has directed  Justice Innocent Umezulike, the chief judge of the state, to constitute an impeachment panel against Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, the deputy governor.

The resolution for constituting the panel, which was sponsored by Mr Sunday Ude-Okoye, a representative of Awgu North constituency and 19 other PDP lawmakers, was adopted at plenary, while the reply of Onyebuchi to the notice of impeachment he was earlier served was not read.

The speaker, Mr Eugene Odo, said that since 20 lawmakers had endorsed the investigation of Onyebuchi, the next line of action should be setting up the panel in line with the constitutional provision of Section 188 (5).

“Within seven days of the passage of a motion under the foregoing provision of this section, the chief judge of the state shall at the request of the speaker of the house of assembly, appoint a panel of seven persons who are of unquestionable integrity, not being members of any public service, legislative house or political party to investigate the allegation as provided in this section,” he said.

  1. How in the world do you impeach your deputy 7 months to the end of your tenure. A man who has quitely and respectfully stood by your side even when you were at your death bed should be praised and not treatened with impeachment. Ifeoma Nwobodo can not represent Nkanu land by force and by plotting to remove the deputy governor she’s now even more unpopular among Nkanunites. She’s sharing our money and the people will collect that money but she will not be our Senator. If she’s confident of her work as she has claimed, she should run on her merit and leave the deputy governor alone.
