Peter Nwaoboshi, senator representing Delta north, says the houses seized by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel (SPIP) are not his.
The panel led by Okoi Obono-Obla had announced that it traced 11 houses and 22 bank accounts to him.
The panel said the seizure of the properties followed the ruling of Taiwo Taiwo, a judge of the federal high court in Abuja.
But in a statement by Vincent Adoor, his media aide, Nwaoboshi accused Obono-Obla of tarnishing his image because of the electoral dispute between him and Ned Nwoko, who is also laying claim to Nwaoboshi’s senate seat.

A federal high court in Abuja had declared Nwoko as the winner of the PDP ticket in Delta north senatorial seat but the appeal court reversed the order.
The case is currently at the supreme court.
The senator said of all the accounts frozen by the panel, only three are his and the amount in those account were not too big for a federal lawmaker.

“First, all the properties listed and purportedly sealed does not belong to SENATOR PETER NWAOBOSHI. SENATOR PETER NWAOBOSHI states unequivocally that he does not own a single property in Lagos or Warri, as claimed by SPIP, and that the identities of the real owners will be known when the trial commence,” he said.
“Off the 22 Bank Accounts allegedly freezed, only three can be said to be his. Two of those accounts are his salary account with UBA,National Assembly Branch. All monies that enter both accounts are his official salary, allowances and estacodes. The Third account is his domiciliary account with Access Bank. The balance in all the accounts listed by (SPIP) is less than (45,000,000) Forty Five Million Naira Only. Worthy of note is the fact that senator Nwaoboshi took a loan of (150,000,000) One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira on his salary account with UBA. This is verifiable.
“Senator Peter Nwaoboshi wants the Nigerian People to know that what is ongoing is a personal fight and vendetta pursued by OKOI OBONO OBLA and his good friend and sponsor Hon. Ned Nwoko against him. The sole reason for this blackmail, harassment, intimidation and campaign of calumny is Delta North Senatorial Seat which Hon. Nwoko lost, and is presently a subject of litigation pending before the Supreme Court.”
The panel had listed the properties as Summing Electrical Company located at Asagba along Asaba Airport road; PON filling station along Asaba Airport road, Asaba; and a multi-billion naira estate under construction at Maryam Babangida Road, Asaba.
