President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the Super Eagles of Nigeria to provide a soothing balm to the many challenges facing the country.
In his charge to the team, Buhari said: “nothing but lifting of the diadem is good enough for our country” at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Buhari also told them to play for the “honour of motherland” in their first group B match against Burundi on Saturday 6pm Nigeria time at the Alexandria stadium.
Buhari through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said: “I will be watching, just as millions of Nigerians would also do. You have our solid support, and we will cheer you to victory”.

Meanwhile, Buhari also took time out to say he is backing the Super Falcons to make a “greater history by beating Germany to make it to the quarterfinals”.

Ahead of their first game against Burundi on Saturday, the immediate past minister of sports said millions of Nigerians are expecting the team to live up to its pre-tournament hype.
While Falcons will take on Germany in the round of 16 at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France by 5pm Nigeria time at the Rennes stadium.
The African champions finally qualified for the knockout stage twenty-years after missing out on five consecutive occasions.
