PSC: We’ve not cancelled list of successful applicants for police constable roles

The Police Service Commission (PSC) says it has not cancelled the list of successful applicants for the police constable roles.

On June 4, the PSC released the list of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist cadre roles in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

However, the NPF rejected the list over the allegation that the recruitment exercise was marred by corruption and irregularities. The PSC has denied the allegation.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ikechukwu Ani, PSC spokesperson, denied the claim that the commission has cancelled the list of successful applicants.

Ani said the commission recently concluded “routine maintenance” of the website containing the list of successful candidates after some technical issues.

“The commission wishes to disown a statement circulating in social media alleging that it has succumbed to pressure and cancelled the final list of successful candidates,” the statement reads.

“The commission has not and will not cancel the final list of successful candidates from the recruitment exercise, which was conducted in clear adherence to relevant guidelines and provisions of the law.

“The commission is in control of the situation and has since restored the recruitment portal with its original contents.

“Successful candidates are advised to ignore the deliberate antics of desperate groups bent on destroying the good work of the commission in giving the nation a merit-based and inclusive recruitment exercise.

“The commission restates that the portal is now fully functional and accessible. Candidates can now log in and access all its features without any disruptions.”
