PWDs congratulate Ayuba Gufwan on appointment as NCPWD secretary

The community of persons with disabilities (PWDs) has congratulated Ayuba Gufwan on his appointment as executive secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD). 

On August 6, President Bola Tinubu appointed new heads of agencies and programmes in the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development.

Gufwan was one of the appointees. He would succeed James Lalu.

In a statement by Saleh Gagarawa, head of new media of NCPWD, Lalu said Gufwan has considerable experience and commitment to disability issues.

“His appointment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for persons with disabilities across the nation,” the statement reads.

“It has been an honour to serve as the executive secretary of the NCPWD.

“I am confident that Mr. Ayuba Gufwan’s leadership will continue to drive the commission towards achieving greater milestones in advocating for and empowering persons with disabilities.”

NCPWD thanked Lalu for his services and said it looks forward to a “seamless transition”, while pledging to support Gufwan to achieve the organisation’s goals and objectives.
