Quadri cracks top 20 in ITTF world ranking

Aruna Quadri moved up to 20th place in the January 2018 world tennis ranking released on Monday.

The top Nigerian table tennis player ended 2017 at 21/

Another Nigerian who made significant progress in the ranking is Olajide Omotayo who moved from 514 to 213.

Egypt’s Omar Assar also moved up to a new rank of 16 in the world.

The reign of China’s Ma Long as world number one came to an end after being displaced by Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

In 2017, the German won the ITTF Europe 16 Cup, among other podium finishes.

Long dropped to seventh place, Timo Boll is world number three while China’s Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin are second and fifth respectively.
