Abdulaziz Yari, senator representing Zamfara central, says he will donate food items to 250,000 needy households in the state.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Lawal Liman, coordinator of #YariFeeds250k food distribution initiative, said the senator is targeting at least 1.2 million people.
The food items comprise rice, beans, maize, grains, sugar and other essential commodities.
Liman said the beneficiaries have already been identified by community leaders, adding that the initiative is non-partisan.

“It is not just about feeding 250,000 people. It is about providing support to 250,000 households that require assistance during the holy month of Ramadan,” Liman said.
“This programme is a community-based initiative. The beneficiaries have been identified by members of their communities and community leaders of proven integrity.
“This is not about party. This initiative is non-political. Senator Yari is for everybody. If you follow his antecedents, you will see that he has always been about making people’s lives better and easier.

“With this initiative, I am sure that even people who are not direct beneficiaries will benefit from this — because with such a massive influx of foodstuffs, the prices of food will also drop — meaning that more people will be able to afford it.”
