Rangers dumped out of CAF Confederations Cup by Zesco United

Enugu Rangers, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, have been eliminated from the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

Zesco United defeated Rangers 3-0 in Ndola, Zambia, to record a 5-2 aggregate win over the Flying Antelopes.

John Ching’Andu gave the hosts the lead in the 25th minute and doubled the lead in the 38th minute.

Jesse-Jackson Were scored the third of the day in the 63rd minute.

The Zambian side have now qualified for the group stage of the Confederation Cup.

Rangers failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead in the first leg at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium last Sunday. That game eventually ended 2-2.

The Flying Antelopes were earlier dumped out of the CAF Champions League by Egyptian giants Zamalek.

Nigeria’s only team left in any continental tournament, Rivers United, will entertain Rwanda’s Rayons Sport in their first leg play-off tie in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
