Raphael Adebayo, activist, awarded scholarship to study at Oxford University

Raphael Adebayo Anuoluwapo, an activist, has been awarded full scholarship by James Currey Society (JCS) to study at Oxford University in the UK.

Anuoluwapo will study at the African Studies Centre at the university.

In a letter dated December 31 and addressed to the activist, Samson Onwe, JCS president, said all costs — transportation, accommodation and visa — will be covered by the society.

“I am delighted to congratulate you for being approved for the James Currey Writing and Publishing Workshop for 2021/22, (21st January – February 21st, 2022), which reflects your achievements in the field of African Literature,” Onwe said.

“We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford in January 2022 for the Workshop. During your stay, writing and publishing workshops will be organized that will give you the opportunity to discuss your work with Oxford academics and students, those affiliated with the African Studies Centre and our MSc in African Studies.

“As an Academic Visitor to the African Studies Centre, you will have access to Oxford’s Bodleian Library with all its resources and get to learn from the 2021 James Currey Fellow, Mr. Stephen Embleton.

“All the costs for your visit – for transportation, visa costs, accommodation and living costs will be covered by the James Currey Society, in line with our cooperation agreement with African Studies Centre at University of Oxford, covering the James Currey Fellowship.”
