Umar Ganduje, the executive director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has distributed 3,627 bags of rice to residents of Dawakin-Tofa LGA in Kano state.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Ganduje town on Thursday, Umar said the distribution was intended to support the residents for Ramadan fasting.
He assured the crowd that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working to ease economic difficulties and called for continued support for the government.
Umar also noted that food prices had started dropping across the country, adding that more support initiatives are in the pipeline for supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano.

“The All Progressive Congress (APC) is a party that cares for its supporters, even when not in government,” he said.
“This gesture is just the beginning; more empowerment programmes are coming.”
According to a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Edwin Olofu, chief press secretary to Abdullahi Ganduje, APC national chairman, the rice distribution includes 1,133 bags of 50 kg and 2,494 bags of 25 kg.

The statement added that the food items will be handed over to APC executive members for distribution across 38 wards in Tofa, Rimin Gado, and Dawakin-Tofa.
Shehu Lambu, former commissioner for works and land in the state, commended Umar for his generosity and contributions to the constituency despite not holding an elected position.
“This young man is performing better than the incumbent representative,” Lambu said.
“He has brought developmental projects, provided solar-powered streetlights, and directly supported our people. We must mobilise and vote for him if he contests in the next election.”
