Sergio Ramos is set to depart Real Madrid after 16 years at the club.
The Spanish club broke the news in a statement on its official website on Wednesday.
The statement added that a press conference will be held on Thursday to bid the defender farewell.
“Real Madrid CF announces that tomorrow, Thursday, June 17, at 12:30 pm, there will be an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos, with the presence of our president Florentino Perez,” it read.

The 35-year-old’s contract is expected to expire by the end of June and an extension could not be worked out by both parties.
The Spanish centre back joined Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005.
He was appointed captain of the team upon the departure of Iker Casillas in 2015.

He has played over 670 games for the club, winning five Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.
Ramos is departing Real Madrid as the club’s second-most honoured player behind Paco Gento.
The defender’s departure is also the second the capital club will suffer since the end of last season.
In May, Zinedine Zidane announced his resignation from the position of the club’s manager.
