The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) says it mobilised N6.7 million in three weeks to respond to the flood in Borno state.
The NRCS said this in its unveiled humanitarian report Abuja with the theme: ‘Reflection, resilience, and recommitment to humanitarian service’.
The report said the organisation’s relief operations supported thousands of families in Adamawa, Anambra, Oyo, Kebbi, Kogi, and Rivers states.
The NRCS collaborated with the Norwegian Red Cross and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to launch a training of trainers (ToT) programme to strengthen the country’s preparedness for the Mpox outbreak, which affected 26 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The organisation said following catastrophic flooding in Maiduguri and its environs, it “mobilised swift relief efforts, raising N6.7 million in just three weeks”.
The society said it provided items worth N100,000 each to 1,850 affected households and launched a N2.5 billion fundraising campaign.
“While the full amount was not raised, the initiative fostered partnerships that will support future humanitarian efforts,” the report reads.

Oluyemisi Adeaga, president of the NRCS, acknowledged the collective efforts that defined the year’s successes.
“Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation,” he said.
“To our donors and supporters, thank you for believing in our mission. Together, we will continue to serve humanity with dignity, efficiency, and compassion.”
