Oluyemisi Adeaga, president of the Nigerian Red Cross Society

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has unveiled plans to launch a N2.5 billion fundraising initiative to support vulnerable communities in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, the NRCS said the funds would be deployed to address the effects of severe hunger and malnutrition in the country within the next 18 months.

The agency noted that the appeal focuses on enhancing livelihoods, health, nutrition, and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in the most affected regions.

Oluyemisi Adeaga, the NRCS president, added that a fundraising gala night will be held on September 28 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
