As is the case every other week, the performances of some players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trump others.
Here are the players who made TheCable’s team of the week.
Emmanuel Iwu [Akwa United]
Seven top-class saves in the game made him a formidable obstacle, giving his side a much-needed confidence.

Emmanuel Ariwachukwu [Akwa United]
The agile defender was important for the Promise Keepers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Abiodun Adebayo [Abia Warriors]

Adebayo was the bedrock of the Abia Warriors’ defence against MFM. He was not afraid to move forward and also organised his defence to make sure the Umuahia Warriors foiled any attack from the Olukoya Boys.
Samson Gbadebo [Rivers United]
All season long, he has been a consistent defender for the Pride of Rivers. If Rivers United are to qualify for a continental tournament, Gbadebo’s presence in the team will be key.
Emeka Isaac [Abia Warriors]

Isaac was combative as usual. He pressed hard and cut out supplies to the MFM attackers.
Ekene Awazie [FC Ifeanyi Ubah]
It was another display of footballing artistry by the young midfielder. Awazie has been the driving force behind much of Anambra Warriors’ recent exploits. If he continues to play this way, there’s no telling how far he may go.
Ndifreke Effiong [Abia Warriors]

Tenacious, committed and brilliant are the words to describe Ndifreke’s performance against MFM. He gave his teammates the freedom to express themselves, often popped up in the opposition box and eventually unlocked the MFM defence with a brilliant goal.
Stephen Alfred [Kwara United]

The former FC Taraba forward pestered the Tornadoes’ defence all day. He was a constant threat to the Ikon Allah Boys as they found his pace difficult to handle.
Seka Pascal [FC Ifeanyi Ubah]

The marksman is finally back to his best. He struck a number of powerful long-range shots, one of which put the Anambra Warriors in front against the Yobe Desert Warriors.
Junior Lokosa [Kano Pillars]

With 18 goals, Lokosa is arguably the man of the moment in the NPFL. He scored a brace against Katsina United. If he is to maintain this current form, Lokosa can hit and cross the 25-goal mark.
Ovoke Benard [Rivers United]
The way Ovoke took on El-Kanemi Warriors defenders reminded fans of his 2016 form. The former Bayelsa United forward scored a goal which turned out to be priceless for Rivers United.
