Remi Tinubu donates N250k to each household affected by flood in Abuja estate

Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of Nigeria, has donated N250,000 each to households affected by the flood in TradeMore estate, Abuja.

On June 23, several residents of the estate along the airport road were trapped by a flood caused by heavy rainfall.

Several houses and vehicles were submerged underwater when the flood lasted.

The federal capital territory administration (FCTA) after the incident, declared the estate a disaster area, adding that buildings on the waterways in the area will be demolished.

In a statement on Thursday, Bukola Kukoyi, her media aid, said the first lady made donations to 57 households through Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), her pet project.

Tinubu who was represented by Nana Shettima, wife of the vice president, expressed sympathy over the “unfortunate” incident.

She acknowledged that there is no certainty in preventing a recurrence of such a disaster but expressed hope that the intervention of the RHI would considerably mitigate the hardships they are currently facing.
