Remo Stars’ Chidume wins 10th edition of VAT wonder goal award

Victor Chidume’s goal for Remo Stars has won the 10th VAT wonder goal award of the 2016/17 season.

The goal, which he scored against Lobi Stars, received the highest number of votes from fans on Twitter and the website of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

His side lost the fixture 3-2 but Chidume’s goal made the shortlist alongside goals from Abdulrahman Bashir of Nasarawa United and Wasiu Jimoh of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

A total of 2223 votes were cast by fans who voted on the NPFL website with Chidume picking 1471 representing over 66 percent of the votes.

In the final tally, Chidume polled 1583 votes, Jimoh had 783 and Abdulrahman received 141 of the total 2510 votes.

Remo Stars is now the first club to produce two winners of the VAT Wonder Goal following an earlier win by Salefu Ochowechi.

Chidume will receive N150, 000 as prize money, half of which will be donated to a charity organisation based within the state where the club is domiciled.

The VAT wonder goal, an initiative of the League Management Company (LMC), is supported by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).
