The election monitoring committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward and local government congresses in  Katsina state, has written a minority report on the conduct of the congresses in four local governments in the Funtua zone of the state.

In a report dated May 15, and addressed to the national secretary of the APC, Sanusi Kunde, Innocent Anike and  Abdulrasheed Ahmad, who were sworn into a committee at the national secretariat of the party, alleged that election materials were diverted in Faskari, Dandume, Musawa and Kankara local governments of the state.

According to the report seen by TheCable, the elections were conducted peacefully across the state.

The report,  however, said “for some inexplicable reasons despite all the measures put in place in Funtua Zone during the ward congress, some local governments visited namely Faskari, Dandume, Musawa and Kankara, the elections materials got diverted and election venues were moved away from APC party offices/local government secretariats to secret locations.”

“This is in gross violation of the stipulated guidelines for the conduct of elections,” the report read.

They called on the national secretary to ensure that members of the party in state feel a sense of fairness.

This, they said, would help the party avoid embarrassing President Muhammadu Buhari in his home town.

“To this effect,  one of our committee member has directed the aggrieved party that confronted him in Musawa to submit their formal cry/petition to the appeal committee for redress and equity as stipulated in the guideline,” it read.

“Finally, we urge your good office to look into this with all sense of fairness to avoid embarrassment in the state of our respectable and man of esteem character, President Muhammadu Buhari.”
