Lekki, Oshodi, Ikorodu, and Apapa topped the list of crime hotspots in Lagos state, according to data from the Lagos State Criminal Information System (LCIS).
The LCIS, established in 2004, is a crime data register that keeps information about inmates who have been convicted or are awaiting trials.
Speaking on Tuesday at a two-day justice reform summit in Lagos, Rahman Oshodi, a judge at the Lagos high court, reeled out the data on the LCIS.
Oshodi said between 2018 and May 9, 2024, 62,117 inmates were enrolled on the database, noting that stealing-related offences had the highest number of cases with 21,084 offenders.

The judge added that the offence of breach of peace had 7,044 offenders, followed by armed robbery with 4,518 and sexual crimes with 2,231.
He said Lekki had the highest number of reported criminal cases with 13 percent, followed by Ikorodu, Oshodi/Isolo, Ojo, and Apapa with 10 percent each.
Other areas include Alimosho, which recorded nine percent; Agege and Ikeja, eight percent apiece; Mushin, six percent; Lagos Island, five percent; Yaba, (four percent; Ikoyi, three percent; Victoria Island, and Ajeromi, two percent apiece.

The data also showed the offenders’ state of origin.
Ogun tops the list with 5,294 offenders, representing 17 percent, followed by Oyo with 4,090 offenders (13 percent), while Lagos recorded 3,295 offenders (11 percent).
On sexual offences, the judge said young girls are more at risk of sexual crimes, adding that 64 percent of sex-related cases in the state are for defilement, followed by sexual assault (16%).
Oshodi said 88 percent of defilement-related cases in the state involved men between the ages of 26 and 65.
