The house of representatives has confirmed the appointment of the new service chiefs.

President Muhammadu Buhari had announced the appointment of the new service chiefs on January 26.

On February 9, Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house, had read a letter from the president seeking the confirmation of the new service chiefs.

The green chamber confirmed the appointment of the service chiefs at its plenary session on Tuesday.

Benson said the nominees were thoroughly screened and their performance was satisfactory.

The confirmed service chiefs are Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff; Ibrahim Attahiru, chief of army staff; Awwal Gambo, chief of naval staff; and Isiaka Amao, chief of air staff.
