The house of representatives has passed the 2024 budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The lower legislative chamber approved the agency’s N1.9 trillion 2024 appropriation bill during a plenary session on Wednesday.
Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, chairperson of the committee, presented a report on the bill, after which the clause-by-clause review was undertaken by the committee on supply — chaired by Ben Kalu, the deputy speaker.
A breakdown of the budget shows the sum of N38,545,349,193 is for personnel expenditure while N29,246,506,753 is for overhead expenditure.

The agency also earmarked N8,785,574,130 for internal capital expenditure, N835,222,569,924 for development projects, and N1 trillion for legacy projects to be funded by borrowings.
PROJECTS ALLOCATION
For project development expenditure, Abia was allocated approximately N110 billion, Akwa Ibom obtained around N243 billion, Bayelsa secured about N232 billion, and Cross River got about N88 billion.

Others include Delta (N267 billion), Edo (N155 billion), Imo (N114 billion), Ondo (N116 billion) and Rivers (N226 billion).
