The house of representatives has passed a bill to establish the Federal University of Agriculture in Sabon Gida, Langtang south LGA of Plateau state.
The green chamber considered and passed the clauses of the bill at Wednesday’s plenary session.
It was deliberated on after Aminu Suleiman, chairman of the committee on tertiary education, presented the panel’s report.
The proposed law is entitled, ‘A bill for an act to establish Federal University of Agriculture, Sabon Gida, Langtang’, and has 27 clauses.

Sponsored by Beni Lar, lawmaker representing Langtang north and south federal constituency, it seeks to make comprehensive provisions for the university’s establishment, management and administration.
Earlier, while leading a debate on the bill, Lar said when established, the university would help in feeding the nation.
“If established, the institution would harness, develop the abundant human potential from the north-central region to feed the nation of Nigeria,” the legislator said.

The bill will need the concurrence of the senate before it is sent to the president for assent.
