Reps spokesman: FG taking advantage of non-passage of 2017 budget

Abdulrazak Namdas, spokesman of the house of representatives, says the federal government is taking advantage of the non-passage of the 2017 budget.

Namdas said this while speaking with journalists on Thursday.

He said Udoma Udoma, minister of budget and national planning, and Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, said they would approach the national assembly if they were able to reconcile some figures before the budget is passed.

The ministers had briefed the lawmakers on the executive’s efforts to clear outstanding pension.

“Even the federal government is taking advantage of the non-passage of the 2017 budget,” Namdas said.

“The ministers said when they are able to reconcile some figures they will approach us.”

He said the lower legislative chamber would continue to engage the executive on issues that borders on the welfare of the people.

“We will continue to engage the executive in issues bordering the people, not pensions alone,” the spokesman said.

“If we see issues we will not hesitate invite the relevant ministries.”
