Return of Spoken Word

It’s been quite a while since I took a small break.

But I’m getting much pressure to express my take.

After so much thought, I’ve decided to awake.

In this Nigerian equation, I too, have a stake.

To keep ‘Schtum’ on what’s happening is a huge mistake.

We must all work together so this nation won’t break.

While we may have a leader as white as snowflake,

There are people around him as sly as a snake.

Watching them slither about gives one heartache.

Because they represent a Corruption remake.

If things just continue, there will be an outbreak,

Of critters and cretins eating Nigeria’s cake.

General’s very legacy could very well shake,

If he continues to empower those who are fake.

It’s vital to voice out. One just must uptake,

Calling people to order for Nigeria’s sake.

So, my voice is now back. I will not forsake,

Spilling ‘Tea’ on things that do cause an earthquake.

We still have not recovered from holding the election.

Or in many instances, INEC’s very own selection.

The polls were quite mixed. There was no perfection.

Because some of the results weren’t people’s reflection.

The world was able to see due to internet connection,

How the process was marred at the time of collation.

Despite the detection of election insubordination,

INEC should have insured the voter’s protection.

But instead of circumspection and total correction,

The agency left many feeling disaffection.

So, as a rejection and outright objection,

The opposition is going to our Judicial section.

But, despite the petition with it’s legal dissection,

The Courts will most likely put the Appeal in ejection.

But the real observation is our Politics of abjection.

There’s no difference between the core of the parties infection.

The truth of our system does not need much recollection.

It’s just Déjà vu. It’s not hard to make a prediction.

I say Déjà vu because it happened before.

One party wins, one looses. Need I say more?

For many a term, this just was the score.

Elections were won using the back door.

The parties engaged in what looked like a war.

The ‘Do or Die’ culture became our décor.

Incumbency Might left the rest on the floor,

As the sitting ruler continued to soar.

It is quite ironic; a fact we can’t ignore.

It is the same individuals at the political core.

For Atiku and Buhari, this is just an encore.

They’ve gone head to head now about times four.

The pain the former is feeling; his present abhor,

Was something that this President also once wore.

Their story, at this point, becomes a metaphor.

Walking in each others shoes. They have that rapport.

As we watch things unfold, it will not be a snore.

Our democracy is evolving; it’s a drama galore.

So much has transpired. There’s much to debate.

Four years that was change was not quite ‘au-fait.’

The security situation is still not yet straight.

Kidnappings and killings; still so much hate.

The corpses are stacking at an abysmal rate.

Travelling by road almost makes one bait.

Kanu and his men are still trying to dictate,

Splitting this Nation into a separate State.

The Fulani Herdsmen do open a floodgate,

Of violent reprisals. Much stress they donate.

The Supplementary Elections was meant to create,

An advantage for 2023. Kano was a magnate.

The castigate of Onnoghen before he did abdicate,

Could agitate and aggravate in ‘Judiciary-Gate.’

If Zakzaky dies in custody, nothing will compensate.

So release this man now, before the Shia escalate.

What we must advocate from a Nation so great,

Is Unity and Understanding for us to celebrate.

The test for this government that will make it augment,

Will be the officers that they will ultimately present.

Square pegs in round holes will just only dent,

The visage of the administration. Nigerians will vent.

We have brilliant people to every extent.

The Nigerian mind, you can’t circumvent.

The President has a duty to give his consent,

To men and women of virtue who can represent.

The content of the Cabinet has got to cement,

The General’s own principles that make him unbent.

An issue that many continue to lament,

Is that most who have been loyal are no more in the tent.

Since 2002, some have been quite frequent.

But despite their dedication, they are left in the vent.

What is bringing more dissent is that most are in torment.

People are suffering. Government must relent.

Keep our eyes to the center but lift the resent.

Let’s give PMB our support one hundred percent.

This article is the first in my ‘Return of the Mack.’

I’ll be voicing my opinion while giving some smack.

I’m keeping it real. I just don’t give a jack.

I’ll be able to withstand even the mightiest attack.

By not speaking out is letting bad eggs hijack,

The good work of keeping our movement on track.

Un-coding the equation in Nigeria’s sack,

Is like finding a needle in a humungous haystack.

This Giant of Africa really does have a knack,

Of taking steps forward and more in backtrack.

One people, one nation;there is nothing we lack.

We have an abundance, despite our setback.

So, it’s up to us all to make a comeback.

Lift our country up as being the very best of black.

I’ll be documenting my journey on this World-Wide track.

So, I invite you to follow me on my Social Media rack.

Spoken-Word will be loaded with stack after stack.

Some truth will be spoken. Guess what? …SHE’S BACK!
