Revealed: High heels and good sex have something in common

High heels are not as bad for women’s health as it has been widely suggested.

According to Italian urologist and self-professed lover of sexy shoes,  Dr. Maria Angela Cerruto, a nicely-heeled shoe not only attracts a man, it may also keep him.

Cerruto,  a urologist at the University of Verona, Italy, was relaying to BBC, the findings of her study on 66 women under 50.

She said those who held their foot at a 15-degree angle to the ground (the equivalent of a 3-inch heel) had as good a posture as those who wore flat shoes, and importantly, reveal less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles — suggesting the muscles were more at rest with higher heels — therefore enhancing their strength and ability to contract.

This should be wonderful news to women who have a hard time exercising or practising the Kegels exercise (a popular activity prescribed for strengthening of the pelvic muscles).

The pelvic floor muscles are important in providing support for pelvic organs which comprises, the bladder, intestines and the uterus in females, besides serving sexual performance and pleasure. This is crucial, as pregnancy, childbirth and old age often weaken the muscles.

“Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could be the solution,” she said.

Sadly, this excludes stilettos despite their sex appeal, because regular use of heels higher than three inches can harm one’s back.

So, ladies, fish out those heels you have abandoned, and start rocking them!

  1. Am inclined to agree with this for the single reason that I tend to believe more what the woman says of her sexuality than what we men think we know of it. Seriously, other than than what heels do to their libido, they sure are more beautiful when they walk and swing. And if you want to learn a thing or two about balancing, try walk a few meters in your woman’s pair of clogs!
