Malam Nuhu Ribadu says he is ready to be a street sweeper in service to his fatherland.
Speaking on Monday to the media after submitting his nomination form at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the former EFCC chairman defended his decision to go for Adamawa governorship after running as a presidential candidate in 2011.
“Everything in my life has been about public service. I’m prepared to serve in any capacity. If you ask me to come and be a sweeper of any street in any part of the country, I’m ready to do that. I don’t even have power of my own in any part,” he said.
Ribadu recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the biggest opposition party, and is preparing to run in the October 11 governorship poll in Adamawa State.

However, he needs a waiver from the party to be eligible to contest, but he said he would leave that to the party.
“I am not worried about that. I have followed the rules. I am a law and order person. I have done my own bit and I will wait for the party to do their own. That part is not my responsibility,” he said.
Other notable aspirants for the PDP ticket are Alhaji Mohammed Modibbo, former executive secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Hon. Ahmed Fintiri, the acting governor, Mr. Marcus Gundiri, a candidate in the 2011 poll and Brig-General Buba Marwa, former military governor of Borno and Lagos States.
