Rivers Angels, Nigeria Women Football League (NWPL) champions, on Tuesday, trashed AS Police FC of Niger Republic 5-0 to head into the semi-finals of the WAFU B zonal qualifiers for the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League.

Angels came into the game buoyed by a 2-0 victory over Hassacas Ladies of Ghana in the opening game of group B on Saturday.

They replicated the brilliant performance from the first blast of the whistle at the Robert Champroux in Abidjan.

Their domination bore early fruit as Ikekhua Ogenebrume put them ahead in the 13th minute.

The seven-time NWPL champions could have been three goals up by the half-hour mark, but two of the goals were ruled offside.

Six minutes later, however, there was nothing that could deny Angels their second goal as Ogebe Alice tapped in from a well-timed cross by Ikechukwu Vivian.

Then the scorer turned a provider on the stroke of halftime as she set up Ezenagu Maryann for the game’s third goal.

Ezenagu then extended the courtesy to Ikekhua, who scored her second goal of the game in the 60th minute.

The whitewash was completed in the 77th minute after a fired-up Ezenagu rounded up the goalkeeper and slotted the ball home.

The Edwin Okon-tutored girls have booked a place in the semi-final of the zonal qualifiers, where they will play one of the leaders of group A.

A victory will get them into the final to compete for the title.

Finalists will automatically qualify as representatives of the zone for the finals at the inaugural CAF WCL in Egypt.
