Nigeria’s Rivers United have been eliminated from the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup by Young Africans of Tanzania.
The Pride of Rivers failed to overturn the 2-0 deficit they incurred in the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
United were dumped out of the competition at the quarterfinals stage after they could only manage a goalless draw in the second leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar-es-Salam, on Sunday evening.
The lacklustre encounter suffered over half an hour of intermission due to floodlight issues among other problems.

Before the match, United had alleged that its team bus was burgled and $5,250 stolen.
The Nigerian club also claimed that the assailants sprayed the bus with “toxic chemicals” while the players were training for the match.
The reigning Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions will now focus on the domestic scene with three outstanding games awaiting them in the top flight.

Young Africans will face Marumo Gallants in the semi-finals after the South African side eliminated Pyramids of Egypt 2-1 on aggregate.
United are the last Nigerian club on the continent this season, after Kwara United, Plateau United and Remo Stars had all crashed out in the earliest stages.
